VICTORIA & ALBERT PROJECT
ROYAL COLLEGE OF ART 2013
First year students in Ceramics and Glass at the Royal College of Art are prompted to respond to the expansive ceramic collection at the Victoria & Albert Museum. We were asked to respond to various surface qualities of any chosen work. I focused on a Yixing teapot which, compared to western style teapots, is rather small with an unglazed, but finished surface. I made molds of found objects and used them as spouts, handles and lids on wheel-thrown bodies. Each has its own posture, attitude and character.
